Yellow Octa-Subby is a playful aquatic character inspired by my early love of water, aquatic life and The Beatles' famous song and movie, Yellow Submarine. In my youth, I maintained several fish tanks, and as a teen, I would observe my fish while obsessively listening to music — especially the tunes of John Lennon.
Currently, I spend my time making art, gardening and trying to live with my family in this crazy dystopian time. I have responded to life in a variety of artwork series’, and presently I want to spend my energy creating colorful and uplifting artwork.
Yellow Octa-Subby is an imaginary zoomorphic submersible that I imagine crawling along the ocean floor interacting with other real and imaginary colorful beings. Like most of my artwork, it is inspired by the natural world's creatures, robotics, and machinery. It is a playful cyborg-ish cartoon character living below the surface of our current turmoil and having a blast rolling around the ocean floor.
